============= >> Beginning =============
Walking out of the ocean, Christopher carried his surfboard easily at his side as the wave he’d just finished riding broke against the shore behind him. He chuckled to himself as he noticed a sunburned tourist who he was pretty sure had never seen Pacific waves before. He was standing there frustrated, staring at his now wet and sandy possessions and towel that he’d placed too close to the water’s edge. All Christopher could do was chuckle to himself as he shook his head.
Over six foot tall with sun-bleached light brown hair, wearing a 3 mil shorty wetsuit already unzipped so that his chest was exposed to the dry California air, he look every bit the stereotypical beach bum. Stereotypical, however, would be far from the truth. He was an exceptional beach bum. He’d already completed his next project for his thermodynamics class at Cal Tech, where he had a full academic scholarship. It put him 2 full weeks ahead of his assignments. As a result, he was able to completely focus on leisure.
As the thought crossed his mind, he laughed out loud as he wished, not for the first time, that there was a way to major in leisure. ‘I’d be a PH.D. candidate by now,’ he thought. ‘Unlike my sister, Christina, who couldn’t enjoy leisure time if it reared up and bit her in the... ‘
“Yo Toph,” Christopher’s best friend and partner in crime Jason called out, waving his arms above his head. Only Toph’s closest friends and twin sister, Christina were allowed to call him that. The reason for the nickname is because his sister’s name is Christina, so to avoid both of them having the nickname “Chris”, people who knew them both call Christopher, Toph, while calling Christina, Tina. Jason was allowed because he’d heard Tina calling him Toph on the phone one time, and started doing it to be funny. Toph decided that since Jason was such a likable guy, he’d just let it slide.
As Toph got closer to their towels and beach blankets, he noticed they were occupied with wall-to-wall beach bunnies. Jason and Toph didn’t seem to be able to go to the beach without picking up a few strays. This time, however, Jason had outdone himself. He was surrounded by cute coeds. ‘Hmmm,’ Toph thought amusedly to himself. ‘probably from USC or UCLA. Cal Tech just doesn’t have this kind of talent.’
Jason has been Toph’s partner in surfing, mischief, and overall mayhem since they were paired up randomly in the freshmen dorm sweepstakes their first semester. They’d been inseparable friends ever since.
Unlike Toph’s long blond wavy hair, Jason has curly black hair, mainly due to his Jewish heritage, and while Toph was a lean, muscularly fit six foot two, Jason was a six foot six, muscular, bodybuilding monster. He intimidated a lot of people when they first met him, but most realized pretty quickly that he was just a big teddy bear; an intelligent, hilariously witty teddy bear.
Separately, they were popular with the ladies, but together they become a gravitational force, drawing every attractive coed within two miles in any direction.
No matter how good of friends they were, however, Toph couldn’t let Jason, or anyone else in on his deep dark secret. Toph was secretly a genius, with an I.Q. too high to measure, and an eidetic memory to go with it. Toph’s twin sister Tina was the same way, but unlike Toph, she pushed herself, getting her undergraduate degree at 14, and her doctorate at 18. Then, Tina went on to become some big-shot scientist at Watkin’s Industries, doing hush-hush research in nanotech.
Meanwhile, Toph spent his youth sandbagging classes, getting A’s and B’s, and generally trying very hard to blend in and NOT stand out. He’d long since decided he would rather have fun, enjoy life, and take it easy in college like any normal person. Toph thought his sister was the dumb one for skipping the best years of their lives.
“Jas,” Toph nodded back at Jason, as he sat down on the last available corner of their large blankets, “dude,” he said to Jason, “you need to check out the waves, they’re breakin’ like crazy.”
Toph then pretended to be shocked as if he’d just noticed all of the pretty girls that surrounded them, which made the girls giggle and laugh. “My, my, who are all these lovely ladies on our blanket?”
Toph made himself comfortable as Jason pointed at each girl in turn, and said their names. Jason always remembered their names, before. He had a bad habit of not calling after, even making a point to forget their names. Toph was pretty sure it was intentional, but then Toph had had his share of casual flings too. He figured you don’t look the way they do and not exercise your options.
As the day wore on, Jason and Toph flirted, surfed, and generally goofed off, which is just what they’d come there to do. They finally left the beach around sunset. Toph had already gotten the phone numbers of the two girls he’d liked the most. ‘Who knows, I might even call them ... Maybe,’ he thought as they drove to their favorite bar, Boyle’s. It was Tuesday, all-you-can-eat boneless wings. The managers always jokingly complained when they saw Jason come in on Tuesdays because the guy could really put away the chicken. Toph planned on trying to match Jason plate for plate, but he knew he would lose. He always lost.
On the drive back to Cal Tech, afterward, they stopped for gas. Across from the pump was a businessman, looking tired, stressed, and still doing work on his cell phone while pumping gas.
Toph, still stuffed from the wings, watched Jason get the businessman’s attention and say “Dude,” and then point to the sign that warned against using your phone while pumping. “You seriously need to turn off your cell phone while you’re pumping. That sign about possibly causing a fire ain’t joking.”
The man continued to talk on his phone like he didn’t hear Jason. Jason decided he’d make sure he was heard next time and took a menacing step toward him. No one failed to notice Jason when he wanted them to. He rarely used his muscular appearance to intimidate intentionally, but when he wanted to, he could be intimidating; in spades.
The man instantly backed up a step and told the other person he’d call them back, and quickly hung up.
Jason stared at the man menacingly, trying so hard not to crack a smile and ruin the whole effect. Just as he was about to lose it and start laughing, the pump clicked full, and he turned to remove the nozzle allowing himself a grin.
“Toph,” Jason said as he got back in the driver’s seat. “Did you see that guy,” Jason said pointing at the now retreating car. “Poor dude looked miserable. I would be too if I had to go to some crappy job every day. I mean, can you imagine?”
Toph shook his head. He really couldn’t imagine it, but it made him think again about his workaholic sister Tina. He wondered what she was doing right now. Probably trying to cure cancer or some crap like that. She was only 49 minutes older than Toph, and they had been inseparable growing up. Now, however, they were nothing alike. Toph thought Tina acted ten years older, and to him, seemed miserable.
He never understood why she liked to show off and showcase her intelligence, trying so hard to behave like an adult. Toph, would much rather fit in, and be as carefree and irresponsible as possible. He knew he was every bit as intelligent as his sister and had the same eidetic memory, but, he wondered why in the world would anyone want to drive themselves that hard? He’d made the decision a long time ago to have friends, a life, and smell the roses. It wasn’t as if she ever had any real fun doing what she was doing, anyway.
Toph decided to call her tonight and try to cheer her up a bit, catch up, and ask what was going on with her. He mentally shrugged and pushed the thought away. She was probably too busy to talk to him anyway. Still, even as he had that thought, he knew he’d wind up calling her anyway. He always did.
Toph exited the elevator of their off-campus apartment building. Saying bye to Jason, who lived one floor up, he walked down the hall towards his apartment. They could have shared an apartment and saved a little money, but Jason’s parents were rich, and paid for everything for him, while Toph had more than enough money from his half of an insurance settlement when his parents were killed in a small plane crash four years earlier. Besides, this way, they didn’t need a signal for when they had company over, which was frequent.
He opened his door and peeled off his shorty as he entered the bathroom. After rinsing his surfboard and shorty in the shower, he quickly dressed in a pair of board shorts, before going back into the kitchen to grab a slice of cold pizza and the phone. ‘Time to call my workaholic sister,’ he thought.
He plopped down on his couch and took a bite as the phone began ringing in his ear. ‘She never answers her phone,’ he thought, ‘but I’ll leave a message like always.’ He knew she’d probably call him back in a couple of days, apologizing profusely for not calling sooner.
“Hey little bro, um, what’s up,” Tina said as she answered the phone on the second ring, surprising Toph. It was the first time she’d answered her phone since she’d moved to San Jose.
Toph sat up surprised. “Hey Sis,” he said. “I was going to leave a message like always. I’m surprised you answered for once.”
“Oh, come on, I answer when I can,” he heard her say, defensively.
“Really,” he asked, rhetorically. “Name the last time you didn’t have to call me back?”
The silence told him he’d scored. He could picture Tina trying to come up with an answer, but due to their memories, they both knew this was the first time since she’d moved away. The difference was, Tina didn’t know Toph had an eidetic memory as well.
“Actually, I’m glad you called, Toph,” Tina said, changing the subject. “I’m going to be sending you something, and I need you to keep it secret and safe. Don’t tell anyone, not even Jason.”
“What is it, sis? Let me guess; cold fusion or a cure for cancer.”
“Well, it’s not cold fusion.”
Toph sat up surprised. “Wait, Tina! Are you telling me you actually cured cancer? Does that mean your nanite thingies work?”
“Yeah, something like that, potentially. Listen Toph, for now, when you get the package, just hide it somewhere safe, OK.”
“Sure thing sis, but you owe me a lengthy explanation later.”
“Deal, but you have to keep this quiet. I mean it Toph. No one.”
“I promise. What’s going on? Are you in some kind of trouble?”
“No, no trouble,” Tina said. “Just work stuff. I just need a place to store something where I know it’ll be safe.”
Toph could tell she was lying. “Tina, you’re not telling me everything. What’s really going on?”
“Sorry, I have to go, but I’ll call you in a couple of days when I send the package, and tell you the whole story. I love you, Toph.”
“I love you too, sis,” Toph said, before hearing the line go dead.
Toph wondered what she was involved in. It wasn’t like her to rock the boat, and the nervousness in her voice concerned him. He decided to make sure to get more answers when she called back. For now, he decided to come up with a good hiding place for whatever it was she was going to send him. It never occurred to him that it would be anything dangerous or illegal. This was his sister and she was as straight-laced as they came.
Toph turned in his project the next morning, and then spent his Thursday and Friday afternoons in the lab helping his classmates with any problems they had. He liked teaching others, and had a surprising amount of patience, even for those without his intelligence or memory ... which was everyone but his sister.
Leaving the campus with Jason Friday night, they headed home and changed, before hitting a club that had a local band that had a lead singer that Jason was friends with. While there, Jason thought back to his sister and realized he’d never gotten a package from her. Since it was impossible for Tina to ‘forget’ to send it to him, he decided he’d call her when he got home, and see what happened.
Toph never made it home. The band wound up partying in their hotel room, and Toph wound up spending half the night with them, playing guitar. He’d spent a month teaching himself when he was fourteen because a girl he liked, liked musicians. The band wound up getting repeated visits from hotel security due to multiple noise complaints, and they finally wound up just sitting around drinking way too much to drive home, and crashed wherever they landed. Toph wound up crashing on top of a groupie.
============= >>Saturday Day 0 =============
Toph and Jason left the next day at 10 in the morning, and went back to their apartment to get their boards, before heading for El Porto. The news said there would be good waves, and Saturday was the best day to surf if you wanted to be noticed by the local beach babes, which was Jason and Toph’s favorite thing.
Toph tried calling Tina on the way to the beach, but she didn’t answer. ‘Typical,’ Toph thought. He’d been lucky she answered the previous call.
Toph and Jason spent the day just like every other day at the beach lately. Spending half the time on their boards, and the other half on their crowded blanket, only heading home when the sun was going down.
“Toph, let’s meet back here in fifteen minutes,” Jason said as he pushed the button for the elevator to head to their respective rooms. They’d decided to get dinner and a few drinks at Boyle’s, before calling it a weekend.
“Sounds good,” Toph said as the elevator doors opened, and they both stepped inside.
Getting to his floor, Toph got out, and waved absentmindedly to Jason, fumbling for his keys. He Unlocked his door and stepped in. He was immediately grabbed by a set of very strong arms, and a cloth was pressed over his face. He quickly lost consciousness.
Toph woke up with a splitting headache, and trying to put his hands to his head, he realized he was tied up. Opening his eyes wide, he didn’t recognize the room he was in. Two huge Asian guys were sitting at a table, talking quietly with a much older and smaller white guy. There was what looked like a styrofoam cooler, and a cell phone on the desk between them.
Toph let out a Groan because of his headache, which got the attention of his apparent captors.
“The brother’s awake,” one of the big Asian guys said to the person who was apparently their boss, his Asian accent very apparent. The older man looked his way and stood up.
“How are you feeling,” The older man asked Toph.
“Like I’ve been kidnapped and tied up, before being hit repeatedly in the head with a sledgehammer,” Toph said, sarcastically. “What did tweedle-dumber mean when he said ‘the brother’s awake’ earlier? I know I’m tan, but I’m obviously a white guy like you.”
The man smiled and ignored his question. “I suggest you drop the sarcasm, shut up, and do what we tell you. I’d hate to have to tell my friends here,” he said, motioning to the two guys still sitting at the table, but obviously paying close attention, “to knock out those fucking perfect white teeth of yours.”
Toph tried to loosen the ropes restraining his hands behind him, but whoever tied him up knew what they were doing. He couldn’t make any progress at all. He was good and helpless. He looked at the man and nodded dejectedly.
Toph’s captor nodded at the two men, “My name is Doctor Lombardi. My friends here from the C.C.P. know their craft very well. You can squirm all you like, but until they untie you, you’re not going anywhere.”
“What do you want with me? I’m just a college student.”
“Oh, it’s not who you are, but what you are that is so valuable to us.”
Toph was confused. “And what is that?”
The man smiled, “The closest genetic match to your sister, Christina. Let’s just hope for your sake, it’s close enough.”
Toph took a second to realize the implications of what they were saying. This is related to his sister. “What does this have to do with my sister?”
The man smiled a malevolent smile, “Nothing anymore. Let’s just say, she was too clever for her own good.”
Toph looked up at him as menacingly as he could. “If you’ve hurt my sister, there’s nowhere you’ll be able to hide from me.”
The man laughed. “Oh, I promise you, there’s nothing you can do to me while you’re there,” he nodded to the chair, “and my friends are here,” he said, nodding to the two who now stood up from the table, as a cellphone on the table rang.
One of the men answered it and began speaking in Chinese. Toph wished he’d taken the time to learn Mandarin. It was on his to-do list.
Hanging up, the man said, “Transport will be here in a hour,” in a thick Chinese accent.
“Good,” the man said and walked back to the table before sitting down. “Oh, and by the way; technically, I didn’t hurt your sister. She never felt a thing.”
Toph felt an immediate surge of anger, and struggled futilely at the ropes, as the door of the small room was bashed in, and black-clad people rushed in, with guns drawn, yelling “ON THE GROUND. POLICE!”
The two Asian men quickly jumped up, pulling pistols from their waistbands, and began to aim at the men, as the men open fire, quickly killing all three of his captors at the table.
Sitting ten feet away, tied up, Chris had just a few seconds to take in that the men had yellow SWAT written on their vests, as the men expertly cleared the house before one of them began freeing Toph.
Toph yelled to the person who came in last, seeming to be in charge. “You need to check on someone in San Jose; Christina Webber. Those guys said they hurt her. She’s my sister.”
The man came over to him, “Well take your statement momentarily. In the meantime, are you hurt? I’m Lieutenant Andrews.”
“No, I don’t think so,” Toph said, as an officer finished untying him. Toph had never seen anyone killed before. Looking at the men who had just recently been threatening him, and indicating they may have hurt his sister, Toph didn’t feel any pity for them.
Being escorted out of the small house, Toph was surprised to see Jason standing there with some policemen.
“Dude,” Jason said, running over to give Toph a big bro hug. “Are you ok?”
“Yeah,” Toph said. “I’m fine. I need to borrow your phone.”
“Sure, here,” Jason said, handing over his phone, saying “The code is One One One Zero. Dude, I followed those guys here. I came down to the lobby just as I saw them carrying you out the side door. I ran to my motorcycle and followed them here, while on the phone with the cops. I thought they’d never go in and get you. I’ve been sitting here fighting the urge to just rush in and break down the door myself for over two hours.”
Toph punched the code in and then dialed his sister’s phone number. When it went to voice mail, Toph said, “Sis, call me the second you get this. I need to know you’re ok. Something’s happened here and I need to talk to you. Call me immediately!”
Toph hung up the phone and handed it back to Jason. “I’m glad you didn’t. Sure, you’re a black belt and all, but these guys were trained foreign spies, and they had guns.”
As Jason was about to answer, Lt. Andrews came walking up. “Mr. Webber, could you come with us for a second? There are a few questions we’d like to ask you.”
“Um, sure. Is there a problem?”
“No, no problem,” the lieutenant said, “but we found something inside we’re hoping you can help explain for us.”
“Ok,” Toph said, as the officer led Toph and Jason to a command van. Inside was a monitor, and on the monitor were pictures of the inside of the house.
“Mr. Webber, we’re hoping maybe you can explain this,” The officer pressed a button and a close-up picture of an empty syringe with residue of what looked like blood inside. “Did they take blood samples from you?”
“I don’t think so,” Toph said, looking at his arms, and noticing for the first time, what looked like a puncture wound at his right inside elbow. He thought to himself, ‘It’s the kind of mark you get when giving blood samples at the doctor.’ He showed it to the officer, who called another officer who took a picture of his arm.
“I don’t know why they would want my blood,” Toph said.
“We don’t either, yet,” Lt. Andrews said. “but we’d like you to go to the hospital to get checked out, just in case.”
“Alright,” Toph said. “Can you check on my sister? She’s in San Jose. Christina Webber. Those guys gave me the impression they might have hurt or killed her.”
“I’ve already contacted my watch commander. They’re working on it as we speak.”
“Thanks,” Toph said, as Lt. Andrews led him to a waiting ambulance. An officer climbed in behind him, as Jason said, “I’ll meet you at the hospital.”
Toph nodded as one of the EMTs said, “We’re taking him to Saint Joseph’s.”
“Got it,” Jason said, as the EMTs closed the back door of the ambulance, and took off for the hospital.
Toph and Jason spent the next four hours at the hospital, where they did a complete tox screen while an officer took their statements. Eventually, the tests came back, and none of them showed anything wrong, so they eventually let him leave.
The officer let Toph know that Lt. Andrews called him on the radio, and let him know they still didn’t have any word from San Jose about his sister, but would like them both to come by the station the next day to sign their statements.
Jason gave a dejected Toph a ride home on the back of his bike. Toph couldn’t help feeling terrified for his sister. She was the only family he had left.
============= >>Sunday Day 1 =============
The next day, Lt. Andrews called and asked Toph and Jason to come to the station to give their statements. When they got there, Lt. Andrews led them into separate interview rooms.
Jason spent the next 45 minutes describing seeing Toph being carried out by two large men, rushed to his motorcycle, and followed them, while talking on his cell to the police.
Toph recounted the men Grabbing him in his apartment and waking him up in the house. He recited the conversation word for word, describing things he saw on the table, and even what the men had said in Chinese. He didn’t understand it, but he could remember the sounds exactly. He spent two hours describing everything he saw and heard.
When he was done, the detective left, and Lt. Andrews and Jason came in, and sat down. Lt. Andrews said, “We’re getting your statements typed up now. I gotta say, Mr. Webber, that was the most ... detailed recounting of an incident I’ve ever heard. It was like you were giving the detective a play-by-play as it happened. You’ve got a very good memory.”
“Yeah,” Jason said, patting Toph on the back, practically knocking him out of his chair. “He’s very smart. You gotta be, to go to Cal Tech.”
“Oh, I don’t know about that,” Toph said, grinning at Jason, “They let you in.”
Jason laughed so loud, the sound reverberated off the walls of the interview room.
“Hey, Lt. Andrews said when Jason’s laughter died down. “while we wait, can I get you two anything? It’s going to be a few more minutes.”
“Nah, I’m good,” Jason said, and Toph nodded in agreement.
Lt. Andrews looked at Toph, suddenly getting serious. “While we wait, I have some unfortunate news about your sister, Christina. I’m sorry, there’s no easy way to say this, but she’s apparently missing. She hasn’t shown up for work. In fact, she hasn’t been seen by anyone for the last 5 days. Her company reported her missing to the C.B.I. We’re coordinating with them now, and they may want to interview you as well. There’s a C.B.I. office in San Jose, and they promised me they’re following up on every lead. One fact they told me was strange, and doesn’t make sense; one of the men who abducted you apparently worked at the same company as your sister; Watkins Industries. His name was Doctor Jeff Lombardi. Had you ever seen or heard of him before? Did he mention knowing your sister?”
“No,” Toph said. “I’d never heard of, or seen him before yesterday. My sister never talked about her work. He did introduce himself as Dr. Lombardi, though. Anyway, like I said, the only things he said that I took to be related to my sister was that I was ‘the closest genetic match,’ and she ‘never felt a thing.’ He didn’t clarify what the first comment was about, but the meaning of the second was very clear. He was saying he’d killed my sister.”
“Well,” Lt. Andrews said, “I’m keeping in touch with the C.B.I. and SJPD, and if I hear anything from them, I’ll call you and let you know. I’m sorry, but I don’t have more information than that.”
Just then, an officer came up and handed some papers to Lt. Andrews, who briefly looked at them before saying, “Mr. Webber, Mr. Weisman, here are your statements,” sliding their statement in front of each of them, respectively. “Read them and sign if all of the information is accurate.”
Jason read and signed his statement, sliding it back to Lt. Andrews. Toph went ahead and read his, tears making it hard, before finally signing it, and sliding it back.
“If you need to leave town for any reason, let us know,” Lt. Andrews said. “Neither of you are in any trouble, but just in case we have any more questions, or information, we’d like to know how to get in touch with you, if you don’t mind.”
Jason and Toph both nodded and stood up. Suddenly, Toph felt a bit of vertigo, and sat back down awkwardly.
“You ok, dude,” Jason asked.
Toph felt his vertigo ease, and he stood back up. “Yeah, I’m fine. I didn’t sleep at all last night. Let’s go.”
Jason drove them both home. By the time Toph got back into his apartment, he was definitely NOT feeling fine. He was feeling run down and had a slight ringing in his ears. He just figured he was tired from everything that had happened, and decided to take an afternoon nap.
Toph woke up to someone shaking him. Waking up in a panic, he opened his eyes to see Jason looking at him concerned.
“What’s wrong,” Toph asked Jason.
“Dude,” Jason said, “I’ve been pounding on your door for like five minutes. You wouldn’t answer, so I used my key. You ok, dude? You’re looking a bit sickly and pale like you got the flu or something.”
“Naa, I’m ok, just tired and hungry. Know what I’d like? A steak, and veggies from Gaucho’s. I’ve been too distracted to eat.
“Ok, dude,” Jason said, “I’ll run by Gaucho’s and get you something. You need to take better care of yourself.”
“Thanks, Jas,” Toph said, laying his head back down.
“No problem,” Jason said, grabbing Toph’s keys from the counter. “I’m borrowing your van.”
“Gas, ass, or grass, no one rides for free,” Toph yelled to Jason, who laughed out loud as he closed the door behind him.
Toph woke up to someone tapping him on the shoulder. Opening his eyes, he saw Jason holding a bag. He could smell the delicious steak, and his stomach reacted with a large growl.
“Here, dude,” Jason said, holding out the bag.
Toph sat up, “I’ll eat at the table. You can put it there.”
Jason took the food over to the table and sat down, as Toph got up, and sat down opposite him.
Toph couldn’t wait to dig in and smiled appreciatively at Jason when he saw the new york strip cooked just the way he liked it. He ate ravenously, finishing everything before Jason was halfway done with his ribeye.
Toph yawned and felt a chill. Jason noticed the shiver and said, “Dude, you might be running a fever. You got a thermometer?”
“Yeah,” Toph said. “I’ll get it.”
Toph got up, headed to the bathroom, and came back with an electronic thermometer. putting it behind his ear, the temperature read 101f.
Toph showed it to Jason, who said, “Dude, you need to be laying down. You’re not gonna get over being sick any other way. If I hear anything from the cops, I’ll let you know asap, ok? You do the same.”
“Ok, thanks,” Toph said, getting back into bed, and laying down.
Jason walked in a minute later with a glass of water, and 3 ibuprofen tablets. “Here, dude, take these. Hopefully it’ll bring your fever down.”
“Thanks, Mom,” Toph said, sitting up to take the pills and glass of water.
“I gotta run. I’ll see ya later,” Jason said, getting up. “I’m going out clubbing tonight with one of the girls we met on the beach last weekend.”
“Oh really? Which one,” Toph asked, grinning.
“Honestly, I don’t remember,” Jason said laughing, heading for the door. “I’ll have to reread the texts. Anyway, catch ya later, dude. If you hear any news from the cops, text me, ok?”
“Sure thing,” Toph said. “Oh, can you hand me my laptop quick before you go?”
Jason pulled the power supply from Toph’s laptop and carried it over and handed it to him.
“Thanks,” Toph said, and gave Jason a thumbs up. Jason waved back as he closed the door behind him and left.
Toph realized it had been days since he’d checked his email, and was hoping to find out what grade he got on his project. He expected an A, but you never know how T.A.s will grade projects.
Toph opened his email client and checked his emails. The oldest email was an email from his sister from later the night they’d last talked. Opening it, he read her message saying she’d put some research on her cloud account and included the login credentials to get to it, and tells him to immediately change the password to protect it just in case. She also says if he hadn’t heard from her in the next two days, giving him a tracking number for the package she promised, then something bad happened to her. He felt that now familiar pain in his heart, thinking about his sister and that now he was afraid he was completely alone.
