Update on Mother Nature

I have a tree limb on my roof, and the electricity stayed on. We would have had it worse if the hurricane hadn't turned south. All good, though.

Now, the issue is getting out and about. We have no gas, and where there is some, there are huge lines. Walmart does not even offer deliveries or pickups until Tuesday. I might go to a casino and play poker until sanity returns.

Non-weather-related news: Stolen Plans wraps up this Saturday. It will only be up for a short time afterward because we will be moving it to another paysite, which prohibits us from offering it for free. If you want a copy for your library, use the download feature SOL offers.

Thanks for everything.

The hurricane coming is already a CAT 5. The unsurvivable storm surge is expected to be upwards of 10 - 12 feet, and winds will exceed 125 mph.

I'm on high enough ground that I shouldn't have to worry about the storm surge, but the winds are worrisome. At that speed, it can down trees and even take the roof off your house. If it doesn't slow down, I might evacuate.

The last time I did that, the storm swerved and hit the place I went to hide out. LOL. God has it in for me.

A Better Man 4

The third book in the Better Man series was set in 2018. If you check the football scores and records from that year, you’ll see I only took some minor liberties in the timeline (like USC beating Notre Dame and playing in a bowl game).

Little did I know that so much would change in college football, including COVID-19, transfer rules, and players being paid via NIL. Then there’s the expansion of the SEC, Big Ten, and Big 12, the collapse of the Pac-12, and the change in the college football playoff to 12 teams. And there’s more to come—like my hot take that the NCAA might not survive when the Big Ten and SEC split off. I’ve decided that I can’t ignore all the changes that happened since 2018 and, in essence, will accelerate the timeline.

The goal is for the fourth book in the series to catch up with most of this. I plan on leaving the Pac-12 intact for this season. I’ll also ignore COVID-19 and the fiasco with shortened seasons and no fans in the stands.

I am currently writing Book 4 and a do-over story. Before I start posting the fourth Better Man book, I have a few books that will be posted on SOL. I was sick and needed a break from David, but the muse is back, and I am writing about him and his friends again.

A Better Man Three Ends

I know... what's next?

I've written the first six chapters of ABM 4. This summer and fall, I'll post three books.

Stolen Plans: The second book in the Conclave series is about Alex, who worked with his dad as a planner for the mafia. Note that the first book is FREE on my website until I put it on Amazon. They have a rule that says you have to charge what it is listed for.

The Outsider is the first book in the Last Cowboy series about Austin, who moves from a ranch in Montana to a Dude Ranch in Texas where there are... girls!

Norse is the prequel to the series I wanted to write before Stupid Boy - Star Academy. I've always enjoyed reading science fiction, and this is my first endeavor in the genre.

I will also release a new book on my website in the next few days. The second book in the Last Cowboy series: Club DTF. I bet you can guess what that stands for.

Thanks for reading.

Advanced Reader Copies of my Books

Posted at Updated:

I've had several people who read the ARC version of A Better Man 3 why the story changed. It is due to reader feedback. We use that feedback for more than finding errors in the text. Sometimes, the story doesn't work. When that happens, we either change it or take it out completely. The hope is something better comes of it.

In this case, Cassidy wanted closure over what happened to her. In the original story, I used a previous character to act as the heavy. A character that David had promised his mother he would never hire again. Several readers felt that went against who David was, so that character was removed, and we inserted Ruth, his bodyguard.

Other readers noted that the book was too short, so we added ten chapters to the book, which I think ended up giving the book some closure.

So, if you read the ARC version, you might want to jump onto SOL and read the last few chapters.

As a bonus, I have a new ARC book called Norse on my website. It is the prequel to the Star Academy series that I have always planned to write. I was a big sci-fi kid and have always wanted to write something like this.

I found it was harder than I anticipated because getting the science stuff right is a pain. Thankfully, I have editors that were a huge help with that stuff.

Thanks for reading.

PS Conclave is currently FREE on my website. Soon, we'll be putting it on Amazon. They have a rule that says I have to charge the same on my website as theirs, so it will only be free for a limited time.
