Okay, I should have given notice

Sorry, I didn't think people would be confused. I am currently reposting one of my older stories, His Lucky Charm, under the new name English Jim and the Baltimore Rose. It's a repost after some major editing. The plot is 98% identical, but I corrected quite a few language details; e.g. no housekeeper in Victorian England would be addressed with the "Mrs" prefix, and no shopkeeper as "Mr.". This sounds more elitist now, but also more authentic. I also used the Finestories version as the basis for the revision, so once again, it's less adult and more mature.
I am posting 3 chapters at a time, twice weekly. The new story will comprise the entire storyline, including the time after the move to England, which means that His Lucky Charm 2 as a separate entity will soon disappear from the listings.
Anyway, I hope you'll enjoy the new style!

Happy Holidays!

Dear Readers and Fellow Writers,

to all of you, my best wishes for peaceful, happy and healthy holidays and a hopefully less violent 2025!

The (almost) past year was a good one for me as a writer. Now in retirement, I can devote more time to writing fiction, and the feedback from the readers has been very satisfying and beyond anything I expected. My special thanks to those of you, who pointed out errors, typos and other glitches to me. I am not using AI yet beyond the occasional spelling check and some artwork, but the CI (crowd intelligence) of my readers is something on which I rely for the final polish of my stories. You have not disappointed me!
As a small thank you, an extra chapter of Young Thomas Grey will be available today.

Thank you!

Return of Thomas Grey: download revised epub!

Dear readers,
my apologies! I uploaded a dated epub file to Bookapy. It has been replaced now, so, if you bought the book, please download to new version.

Young Thomas Grey is here!

Ever wondered how Thomas Grey's early years, sailing with his father and studying at the Royal Naval Academy, were? Young Thomas Grey provides all the answers, both here on SOL in serialised form (just submitted) and at Bookapy as the full story with bonus text.
For good measure, The Return of Thomas Grey is also available as epub at Bookapy, with a few adaptions to match the newly written prequel.
Here on SOL, you may expect two chapters of Young Thomas Grey per week, and as always, your feedback is very welcome!
Enjoy!

New chapters of Ellen Trilby & Outlook

Chapter 8 is shortish, so I submitted both Chapters 8 & 9 for your weekend enjoyment (those of you who actually follow the revised Ellen Trilby ).
I received quite a lot positive feedback for the revised plot, and I am looking at my other old stories and at ways to make them a better read.
For instance, Jørg Isebrand drinks mostly well water, and I was advised that people who drank well water in the 16th century died young.
Belle the Collier, too, would have likely brewed his own ale in his cabin in the woods. A bit of alcohol in the drink was better than having the trots all the time.
That's in the future, however. Right now, The Young Years of Thomas Greys is shaping up, and I expect to finish it by October.
Have a nice weekend!
