This is the story of three men who join the Hero Guild in Isbardia. One of them is a former US Marine who wound up there as the result of a strange accident. The other two are native Isbardians whose major ambition in life is to kill the demons and monsters from Hell who are plaguing the normal human residents of Isbardia. All three join the Guild as Apprentices and work their up the experience ladder to become Master Heroes. Jim is the former Marine and the primary protagonist.

Joseph Bell, an Army close-quarters fighting instructor suddenly finds himself in the middle of a war: King Philip's War in 1675 in Western Massachusetts. Join him as he tries to cope with Puritans and hostile Indians. He has nothing to offer but his skill, his training, and his guts as he faces battle after battle, mostly with Indians. This was the worst Indian war ever fought, both in lives lost and property damage. Just keep your head down and your tomahawk handy!

Joe Waters was a Western movie stunt man who somehow traveled through time to the West of 1876. He started out as a bounty hunter because there were no other jobs available, and that turned out to be his lucky day. He found two wives and a fortune in gold. He had plenty of chance to use his Starr DA in.44 caliber as he lived through a tumultuous year.

The Army refuses to help him recover his family, so he embarks on the trail by himself. This is the story of his ordeal and triumph as he strives to right a great wrong.
